This is what Andy Martin from www.martinsmagic.com says about this classic:

Harold Voit has marketed some great magic. The Hand of Cleopatra and one of my other favorites, Wandering Mummy, are both beautifully made, effective, and clever – a collector’s dream.

This particular piece, made by the German Master Craftsman Tony Lackner, is really a utility item, in that you can control what the hand points to – and it can be different each spin. But when you dress it up like this, the performance and story aspects really increase and you can perform some very impressive, and scary, magic. Perfect for bizarre performances, or any Alan Warner collector who is inspired by his Eqyptian themes.

Effect: A spectator shuffles a pack of cards and spreads them face down onto the table. He then takes the small hand and places it on any card of his choice.

The spectator gathers up the remaining cards and gives them to the performer who shuffles them further and then deals five cards face downward at random onto the table without even knowing their value.

The spectator memorizes his chosen card and is then asked to mix it up with the five cards dealt onto the table by the performer so that not only does the performer not know which one it is but he himself does not know either.

Another spectator has examined the “pyramid” and placed it also onto the table-the performer does not handle the pyramid at all from start to finish. The performer takes the six cards and deals them one at a time face down around each side of the “pyramid”.

The spectator picks up the hand and rests it on the point of the “pyramid” and then spins it around on the point-the performer neither touches the hand nor the pyramid. The hand eventually spins to a halt, pointing at one card only, the other cards’ are turned face up and none of them is the selected card.

There is one card left, the one the hand is pointing to … it is turned face up and is found to be the very card chosen by the spectator!
